FIG is committed to building just, equitable, and resilient food systems.
We believe that all people have the right to access good food — food that nourishes bodies, communities, and the planet.
Good food for the common good.
Everyone eats. We envision communities where everyone has access to food that is produced, distributed, prepared, consumed, and recycled in ways that support just, equitable, and resilient communities. Through healthy food systems, we can build robust economies, stronger social ties, and promote better health for all.
FIG was founded on the idea that researchers have the most impact when we move beyond institutions and re-position our work around the values of collaboration, community leadership, and social justice.
All employees at FIG participate in ongoing racial equity training. We have an explicit commitment to using a racial equity lens in our work, and we know that collaborating with community organizers and trainers is critical to achieving our mission. For more information or to attend a workshop, check out the Racial Equity Institute and Organizing Against Racism.
FIG is committed to collaborating with individuals and organizations representing diverse backgrounds, ideas, skills, and perspectives. We regularly team up with our affiliates to tackle multidiscplinary projects.
